The plot of The Lion King takes place in Pride Rock, a serene jungle paradise on the African plain. The place is synonymous to harmony and peace. Meanwhile, Uncle Scar begins plotting a coup to seize the kingdom from his brother. For this, he conspires with a pack of wild hyenas, and lures young Simba and Mufasa to eventually kill the king.

With the king’s demise, Scar and the hyenas come to power. Pride Rock soon resembles a badland while Simba goes on exile. He then befriends Pumbaa and Timon, a warthog and meerkat who live carefree lives feasting on grubs and insects. But a string of incidents leads Simba to meet with his childhood destiny. To return to Pride Rock and reclaim his rightful position as king.

There is always a reason why The Lion King is attributed as the best cinematic masterpiece in any medium. It has a lovely plot, dazzling choreography, well-positioned musical scores and adorable characters.

The Lion King DVD that released in IMAX in 2002 is however a re-animation of the original. Mufasa's appearance in the clouds, the waterfalls in the "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" sequence has all been re animated.
